This collection of photographs is how I capture nature, in my own way. It spans the multitudes of creatures and places I've encountered, and more specifically the parts of nature I've become hyperfixated with. Each photograph represents a cherished moment of connection between myself and something greater.
This is my personal exploration of how nature both reflects and contrasts with my own journey. The saguaros, weathered and towering in the skies for centuries, make me reflect on my own aging. The still waters of Lake Tahoe and Lake Pyramid echo a peace I long for amidst the chaos of work and life . And the alligators in Florida serve as a reminder of the wildness that exists within me too, that I wish to listen to more often.
By photographing these diverse subjects, I aim to express the beauty I see in the natural world and the profound effect it has on my own sense of place and belonging. This series is not just about showcasing animals or environments, but is about exploring something in these subjects that sparks a deeper sense of wonder within me.
When I share my fascination with others, their responses often feel nonchalant, as if these landscapes are just an unremarkable part of their world. But for me, they’re far more than mere scenery. They draw me in and make me want to capture their essence, and do them justice in film. This almost childlike wonder drives the intimate, focused nature of these images, making them less about the landscape itself and more about the emotion these subjects evoke in me.
